8 Dec 2007 - Match Report KHFitC Falcons U9s (S&DYFL)
Northside FC 1 v 9 KHFitC Falcons - report by Matt Dalton
The weather conditions were appalling, cold, windy and raining, the ground conditions were soft and muddy but the boys wanted to play football, so the parents had to stay and endure the conditions.
Northside are a new team this year like ourselves, looking at the league table they have yet to taste victory which is a shame, but watching the boys play bought home to me the FitC ethos of enjoying the game, enjoying the opportunity to be part of a team and to be able to play football whilst learning life skills like communication, respect and an understanding that diversity is an everyday part of life but most of all to keep smiling, keep trying and have fun....…onto the game..
Kidderminster were one nil up within the first minute, two after nearly as many minutes, four within ten minutes, yet still the Worcester lads did not give up. A change in team slowed the scoring rate but standing on the side line for any length of time in such cold conditions was not an option, substitutions allowed players to play out of there normal positions and try to keep warm. Kidderminster were never really challenged, loose balls were quickly picked up, Joel and Anthony showed their physical strength up front causing Northside great difficulty. Nathan, Matt, Tom, Dan, Lewis M, Rory and Ben all played very well, Harry gained man of the match, not for his hatrick but for his tenacity in chasing out of their penalty area and winning the ball back. The goals came from Harry - 3, Anthony - 2, with Ben, Joel, Dan and Lewis M all scoring once, Northside squeezed one under Rory to make it 9 -1 at full time.
Well done to both sides it really was an endurance test in such conditions and let’s wish Northside a speedy victory.
