15 Dec 2007 - Match Report KHFitC U9 Hawks (S&DYFL)
KHFitC Hawks 2 v 4 Meadow Park
This was always going to be a difficult game against a team riding high in the league. We were also without our captain Dan and also Jack O so things were going to be even tougher. When we arrived at Brown Westhead I thought we were up against an under 16's team, the players were massive compared with our boys. We started brightly though but disaster struck 5 minutes in when Meadow Park got the first goal. Good play from both teams then followed with Dave performing well down the Right and captain for the day Jack battling well in midfield. Dave then rifled one in from outside the box and we were back on level terms. Our joy was fairly short-lived as Meadow Park hit back once more before half time. The team were still playing well with Lewis, Jordan and Haydn looking assured in goal and defence. Byron was linking up well with Jack and David providing George with good through balls. Jamie, Alex and Gareth came on midway through the first half and slotted in well. Gareth especially performed well on the wing. As half time came we knew it was going to be a tough game but we always thought there was a chance we could sneak something back. But shortly after the break Meadow Park hit a third. We the changed things around slightly and put George in central midfield and Captain Jack up front. This soon paid off and Jack pounced on a through ball, dribbled with composure and rifled a shot over the Keepers head and into the back of the net. With 5 minutes to go we could have snatched an equaliser but unfortunately Meadow Park broke free and a speculative shot from distance broke our Hearts. Full credit to the boys, this was the first time we have gone behind and not let our heads go down. They performed with true grit and spirit combined with some fantastic football and 2 contenders for goal of the season with Dave and Jacks efforts in either half.
Man of the match today goes to the whole team for a solid performance
Happy Christmas to all the boys, parents, coaches and other KHFITC teams.
