5 Jan 2008 - Match Report KHFitC Hawks U9s (S&DYFL)

KHFitC Hawks 0 v 3 Warndon Piranhas – Report by Matt Evans

A cup game to start the year against a division one team, it was always going to be a tough game having lost 4 nil in our previous encounter. It was also a must win game if we were going to progress through our group and keep the Harriers flag flying high in the cup. The game started very well in stark contrast to the previous encounter when we went 2 nil down early on. A hard fought midfield battle with some tasty tackles proved very entertaining. Jack, Dan and George were at the heart of everything.  As it was a must win game and with our strongest players on the pitch we decided to go for it on a corner just before half time throwing caution to the wind and pulling a defender forward. This proved catastrophic as Warndon scored with a quick break. 1 nil down at half time and it looked unlikely we would get the 2 goals needed. After the break again we went for it and again were caught on the break. We then brought on some fresh legs and it soon became 3. Man of the match today goes to Lewis in goal for an assured performance.
