9 Feb 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC U9 Falcons (S&DYFL)

Enville Athletic 1 v  2 KHFitC Falcons - report by Matt Dalton

It was a lovely sunny day in the grounds of a very grand and impressive Enville Hall, our previous meeting ended in a draw with each side scoring one goal.

Right from the off Harry was on fire, dribbling, protecting, passing and looking to receive, combining well with Anthony. We seemed to settle quickly but suddenly found ourselves out of position on four minutes when Enville ran straight through the middle to open the scoring. Anthony struck the top of the side netting from a ball thrown in and Enville replied by testing the side netting at the other end within seconds. It was a fairly balanced half with both sides seeing chances come and go, Matthew played well tackling, winning the ball and looking to pass from defence, the Falcons played uphill but failed to score. When the second half began we realised how well we had done to concede only one goal against the slope.

The second half was very different most of the play happened with the slope in Enville's half. Super sub Ben struck within two minutes, he received the ball on the left side of the penalty area and raced with it to the penalty spot, as the keeper came out to claim the ball Ben managed to place it gently back towards the left hand post, the ball bobbled and rolled towards the line with defenders chasing but not quite getting there in time. We were level and now playing down hill. Enville had a break and forced Rory onto his knees in order to get both hand onto the ball, another break donated by missed tackles the length of the pitch saw Rory do just enough to keep the net empty. Dan dribbled the length of the pitch but was shielded by defenders before he could offload the ball and ran it out for a goal kick. We began to pass with the gradient, Ben, Dan, Tom and Joel combining to set Ben up for another shot which the keeper blocked, Joel, Harry and Anthony putting Nathan through one on one with the keeper only have the shot blocked as the keeper closed him down. We now had the majority of possession in their half and the pressure mounted, it seemed only a matter of time before the goal came, suddenly an Enville break against the run of play looked a certain goal, the striker knocked his last touch just too far and Rory saved the day again. With minutes left, Lewis M found himself on the right wing, he pushed the ball passed the defender and struck a well weighted cross that was unfortunately deflected in by the Enville defence.

That's how it finished a win for the Falcons. Enville had defended well, it's an unfortunate and unlucky way to loose.

Well done lads. Meadow Park next week at Home, 11:00 kick off in our blue away kit.
