Kinver Colts 1 v 3 KHFitC Hawks (League Cup) - report by Matt Evans

A cup game today, no chance of getting through our group so today was all about enjoying ourselves. We started with Jamie in goal, Jordan and Alex in defence and a 4 man midfield of Haydn, Byron, Gareth and captain David. The game started well with some good play by both teams with both side threatening from set pieces. Half time came with the scores locked at 0-0.

Some of these boys don't always play as much as I would like and as they were all enjoying themselves so much I decided no changes were necessary. It paid off soon after the break a dangerous corner from David was poked over the line by Haydn for his first goal of the season. Kinver fought back well and got a deserved equaliser from a corner. They could have got another if it wasn't for Jamie's bravery in goal. Then we pushed forward which resulted in another corner which was finished clinically by Gareth for his first of the season. The game started to open up and a through ball was picked up by Byron who finished in style to make it 3, he then came very close to adding another in the closing seconds.

One of the most enjoyable games in a long time, and I look forward to the league in a couple of weeks.

Man of the match today goes to Haydn

who got his first goal of the season and covered so much ground getting forward and tracking back when needed.
