1 Mar 2008 - Match report - KHFitC U11s (S&DYFL)
Kidderminster Lions Jrs 0 v 1 KHFitC
Starting Line up: Amedeo, Patrick, Sam, Harry, Casey, Charlie, Aaron
Subs: Jordan, Jamie, James S, James P, Ryan
A must win game against bottom of the league Lions arrived. "A cup final" as manager Dave Gwinnell announced to his players in the pre match talk.
A lively start to the game with some early pressure from the Lions.
A good early save from Amedeo was required, and we started to make them look better then they were.A long punt from the Lions midfielder also hit the bar, and these were warning signs!
Charlie looked lively during the first 10 minutes, and after 15 minutes a great run and cross from Harry set Aaron up, but he missed a sitter! Unlucky Aaron.
After 20 minutes James S replaced Aaron and Jordan replaced Charlie.
Harriers picked up the pace in the last 5 minutes following the subs, and created 4 or 5 chances. A good effort from Caey and a shot from James S, both going just wide.
A good save followed from a Casey free kick, but half time arrived at 0-0.
James P replaced Harry at half time. The first ten minutes of the second half was a very quiet affair, but Harriers once again pushed forward. Good link play between Jordan and James S saw a good effort from James saved. This followed with another couple efforts from him, but the keeper was looking good.
Lions pushed again, but reslolute defending from Sam and Patrick kept the home team out.
After 17 minutes Jamie replaced James P and on the 19th Charlie replaced James S.
5 minutes left and we were beginning to think a goal would never come, when all of a sudden their keeper fumbled the ball and little Jamie knocked the ball in for his first ever goal for the club.
Wild celebrations followed both on and off the pitch, with Jamie's mom nearly bursting a blood vessel with excitement.
Ryan replaced Jordan and the boys stood firm until the final whistle.
A much needed win to keep the lads away from the bottom of the table. Hopefully a bit of confidence may arise and we can pick up a few points in the last few games.
A final note to say great to see coach Kevin back at the games after a major knee operation. All the club wish Kev a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him back on the training ground soon.
