1 Mar 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC U9 Falcons
Mostyn Lions 1 v 6 KHFitC Falcons - report by Matt Dalton
With some minor changes to the positional play this week, we wanted to increase the width of play and improve the count of passes made over the past few weeks.
The game started well with the ball being passed well, I was busy talking to the substitutes when a cheer went up and apparently Dan had opened the score line within two minutes. Dan played wide on the left with Nathan wide right, Tom in the middle, Joel and Lewis at the back offering a solid defense with strong clearances to maybe set Ben running for a long ball upfront. The idea being to swap Dan with Lewis E, Nathan with Anthony, Ben with Harry and Matt with Joel as the game progressed, Tom and Lewis M would be replaced by Joel when required.
Dan battle well and gained a battle scar in the shape of an accidental stud in the ninth minute, Lewis E replaced him along with Anthony and Harry replacing Nathan and Ben. Twelve minutes in and we were caught on the counter attack, two onto one with Lewis M, Mostyn showed team work to play around him and even the score. Harry bit back with a good strike from a nice build up seeing Anthony put the ball across the goal mouth. Lewis E had a solo run from deep within our own half all the way down the left, riding tackles and cutting into the box to unleash a rocket that went in off the far post.
Into the second half Tom had a lovely glancing header from the near post off a Nathan corner kick that bounced back into play off the rear post. Anthony's corner was volleyed home by Harry after lovely movement in the box that saw him infront of his marker with perfect timing.
Dan placed the ball past the Mostyn keeper after another Anthony cross from the wing and the last goal was perhaps the best team play, Anthony took the ball into the right corner, his strength held the ball up until Lewis E provided him an option to pass, Lewis E was closed down but passed back accross the edge of the box to Dan who had time to drive a ball low straight at the keeper with power, to top the move Harry got infront of the keeper and whilst taking almost no pace off the ball at all he diverted it into the corner of the net. Six goals and some room to play, it was nice to see. Those not mentioned all worked well doing what was required for the team to work, playing, supporting and covering ground, Matt had another good game on the left of defense, Joel again covered every blade of grass, Tom did what he could to stop the ball going straight down the middle, Ben hussled and Nathan used the wing well.
