1 Mar 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC U15s - SEMI-FINAL of MJPFL CUP
KHFitC 1 v 1 Histon
Harriers win on penalties!
This semi final was a very tight affair with both teams cancelling each other out in the middle of the pitch. With the wind at their backs Histon managed to create the better chances in the first half with the Kiddy keeper, Alex Rhodes, having to be at his best to tip over a long range shot. Unfortunately he couldn’t do the same when another looping wind assisted shot managed to find its way into the net. In the second half it was Kiddy’s turn to pressurise the Histon goal but it wasn’t until injury time that Kiddy drew level. The linesman saw a push in the area on Lewis Loveridge and had no hesitation in bringing it to the referee’s attention and a penalty was awarded. The captain, George Coley, took responsibility and slotted the ball home to go into extra time. The late goal seemed to demoralise Histon and Kiddy looked the more likely to grab the winner. The game finished 1-1 and penalties took place. It was level after 5 and sudden death loomed. Histon missed their penalty and Jimmy Matthews scored his to the delight of his team mates. Kidderminster Harriers go through to their second final in as many seasons. The final will take place on the weekend of 3rd/4th May with the venue still to be decided.
