15 Mar 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC Falcons U9s (S&DYFL)

KHFitC 4 v 1 Mostyn Lions - Biased report by Matt Dalton

From the off we were passing and supporting well, Lewis E shot wide on three minutes which was our first positive opportunity, Dan shot straight into the arms of the keeper on seven minutes, Lewis M and Tom and Joel kept the ball out of our area and passed back when under pressure to keep possession. Tom opened the score line with a superbly placed shot into the only ball sized hole in the defence from the outside of his right boot, clearing the heads of the defence and curling almost in slow motion into the top right of the net leaving the keepers outstretched fingers wanting, I could go on…but Alan would edit it out as unsolicited nepotism.

Nathan had some good runs and gave way to Harry on the wing, Lewis E received the ball inside the box, turned and struck I hard and low just beyond the outstretched toes of the keeper for our second. Joel placed a cross for Harry to meet but the keeper just managed to beat him to the ball. The lad that played in goal for Mostyn on our previous meeting now wore number ten, he was sharp and fast always looking to trouble our defence creating some good chances.

The second half, saw Lewis M rested and Matt on in his place alongside Tom. Mostyn began to play better football and moved the ball well.  Joel saw his opportunity to turn and strike within the box saved from which Mostyn counter attacked, Mostyn scored a near identical goal to our last meeting, two players parallel onto two staggered defenders confidently taken. Joel made a good long low pass for Ben that proved to have just too much pace, moments later Dan received the ball from a lovely tackle and dribble from defence by Matt, Dan found himself free from the halfway line supported square by Lewis E all the way, Dan took the ball into the box and slotted under the keeper for our third. Our boys were now passing and playing with confidence, patiently keeping possession. Dan ended the scoring with a drive from a tight corner angle that went in off the keeper. Joel in the dying seconds saw the keeper off his line and with a strike from inside his own half was unlucky to see the ball hit the side netting.

Well done boys, a good team effort by all those not mentioned. We meet the Foxes next without Lewis M and Tom, work hard as a team and give Ben the ball in the box, you know he can do it for you. Good luck.
