29 Mar 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC U9 Hawks (S&DYFL)

Droitwich Cobras 0 v 0 KHFitC Hawks - report by Matt Evans

The fixture we had been waiting for for two reasons.:

1. Its been a while since we played a team with better results than us so we wanted to see how far we had come since they beat us 2 nil earlier in the season before we had found our feet.

2. The Droitwich set up is superb, we got into the car on a cold saturday morning, turned on the sat nav and instead of keying in the postcode just typed in Heaven and it took us to the magical Droitwich setup. A lush green pitch perfect for our smooth passing play and a club house with Tea, coffee, bacon and sausages (could it get any better!!!!!).

Well better it certainly got, a quality game of football between two stylish teams (the Cobras have beaten both Kidderminster Lions and the Foxes this season). The first half was an even contest with some classy passing by both teams. Droitwich probably edged the first half but everytime they broke through either Jordan, George or Lewis mopped up any danger and cleared in style. The second half was much the same although this time the better chances came to us. Dan and David who are playing together superbly in the centre of the park both came very close. Jack created a lot on the right of midfield as did Byron followed by Alex and Haydn on the left. Jamie then performed well covering all of the pitch when he came on.

After the performances of the last few weeks I had been expecting the call from Fabio to bring England out of the doldrums and he duly obliged on Saturday. Lewis's increasing confidence could see the end of David James in goal. Dan will step up as captain. Dave can replace Lampard. Who needs Beckham when you have Jack on the right. Jordan and George would snuff out any threat whatever the level of competition. Byron, Alex or Haydn could replace Joe Cole in the left of midfield and Jamie could step in for the injury prone Michael Owen.

Looking forward to the Lions game next week, another massive game.

George - Man of the match today

for a superb defensive performance, his composure on the ball gets better week by week.
