Droitwich Cobras 2 v 1 KHFitC Falcons – report by Matt Dalton

I'm beginning to think that next year we should pick a name with a little more venom and less feathers :o)

Another well fought game which saw our boys slow to settle, playing up hill in the first half we had few real opportunities inside the six yard box. We threatened the Cobra's net once or twice but in the main they defended well and kept us on the edge of the goal area. On fifteen minutes Rory was forced to produce a save from an attack that looked every bit the opening goal, then three minutes later the Cobra's opened the score line from a momentary lapse in concentration. Going in one nil down at half time with the down hill half to come was a feeling we had felt before on this ground, but this time we were more ready to take advantage of the slope.

The second half began just as unsettled as the first with players not bonding and anticipating as a unit, clearances were made with little regard as to direction or possession. On six minutes Joel seemingly made a hurried clearance that saw Jeff and I both begin to call for more calm and control, the clearance bounced three metres outside of the Cobra's area, Lewis E anticipated the bounce beating the defender and turned to meet the second bounce inside the box, the Cobra's keeper decided not to rush out which allowed Lewis to control the ball before placing it effortlessly passed the keeper to level the score. We were back in it and buoyant. Within a minute the Cobra's generated a goal line scramble that seemed to take for ever before the ball crossed the line and put them back in the lead.

We made an unusual substitution and changed Rory in goal for Lewis E, the move was to try and utilise a big goal kick to level the score. On two or three occasions Lewis troubled their keeper, on one occasion he managed to bounce the ball over the crossbar.

That's our last visit to the bacon sandwich bar this year, next year we will be more ready.

Apologies for spelling errors, my Vista is telling me to find my spelling options dialog box and change my language!!! La Bonne chance à vos équipes la semaine prochaine, ah that's better!
