12 Apr 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC U9 Falcons (S&DYFL)
Meadow Park 3 v 3 KHFitC Falcons - report by Matt Dalton
From the whistle the Falcons to a man were awake, alert, animated and eager to perform well, there were no dolly daydreamers, no one away with the fairies, the parents were all left asking what each had been given for breakfast, it was the best start this season. The clock showed eleven minutes before Meadow Park had an attempt on goal.
Lewis E was electric forcing Meadow Park back with his controlled penetrating runs and solid crosses, Harry timed a weighted pass beautifully to put Lewis E through on goal, the keeper bravely denied him. Another of Lewis's crosses was just missed by Harry allowed Dan a header on goal. Joel intercepted a pass and waited to draw the defender before giving Harry a scoring opportunity that he took superbly on eight minutes. Lewis M combined well with Tom supporting one another, Lewis M had three or four great runs out of defense that defied logic as he rode tackle after tackle and laid the ball off at the other end of the park.
On fourteen minutes Anthony in goal let a shot go wide only to see the post save his pride, a free kick for Meadow Park on the half way line saw their first goal, a well struck ball on target that bounce on the goal line and in. Half time 1-1 and I felt we were the better team, but with their number ten nicknamed Rooney we knew we had more to do.
The second half started in a very shaky manner, Meadow Park hit the bar, the post and the bar again in the first three minutes, Dan produced one of his dribbles that saw he and Ben both with a chance of the same shot in the fourth minute, Ben decided to take the chance and it inched wide of the left hand post with the keeper beaten. Ben got our second which was well struck from a corner kick, a goal line struggle looked sure to produce our third but we were denied. A hand ball on the line by Meadow Park resulted in a penalty kick rising over the bar by Joel. Rooney was given an inch ten minutes in and he made it 2 each, minutes later it was 3-2 to Meadow Park from another free kick given for hand ball, Anthony got his hands to it but couldn't stop it reaching the top of the net. Nathan ran well on the wing pushing the defense back , Matt tackled and cleared superbly always looking to keep possession and pass the ball. Rory put in a cameo appearance at his old right back position and held his ground.
The dying seconds were end to end with both teams looking likely to score, Lewis E ran in from nowhere to convert a shot that their keeper just could not hold onto and leveled the scores at three each.
A fantastic effort and return to form, there was no single man of the match this week, they all produced brilliant individual performances that not only strengthened the team, but in fact produced a team we had not yet seen.
