Meadow Park 2 v 0 KHFitC Hawks - report by Matt Evans
Bit late getting this one, but easy to write none the less as scoreline aside it was a memorable performance from the Hawks. A new system which the players adapted to superbly saw us go in at half time nil nil against an enormous Meadow Park team on one of the smallest pitches in the league. You can see why they are one of the leagues top scorers. Meadow Park pushed hard, but we held them at bay and could have got one on the break. The second half started well but Meadow Park eventually broke through via the aptly named Rooney who almost ripped the back of the net off leaving Lewis with one option, which was to get out of the way. We made a couple of changes and Dan took it upon himself to take the game by the scruff of the neck and really go for it. Meadow Parks only option was to keep bringing him down. A stream of free-kicks followed which Dan himself took, one was picked up by George who agonisingly hit the bar. So close to 1-1. Then meadow park broke assisted ably by the Russian linesman who gave them a 2nd which looked to have fallen short of the line. Everyone played superbly with Jack slotting in fantastically as a wing back alongside Jordan. Byron also created numerous attacking options. Man of the match today goes to the whole team for adapting to a new formation which will be used again. Meadow Park deserved to win on this occasion, but next year we will be a much tougher opposition.
