29 Apr 2008 - Match Report - KHFitC U9 Hawks
Kidderminster Lions Cubs 2 v 0 KHFitC Hawks - report by Matt Evans
A fine performance to end the season on a wet and miserable Tuesday evening. Last time we met the Lions we drew 1 all, but that didn't really tell the story. Lions were better than us and it was a very much a backs to the wall display. This time although we lost 2 nil we matched them for large parts of the game and created several dangerous passages of play.
For the first 15 minutes we both cancelled ech other out, the Lions passed and moved well, we defended well and caused problems n the break.
We then handled in the area and up stepped the Lions keeper for the resultant penalty. Lewis saved magnificently in goal to keep his 100% record against penalties the previous one by Nunnery went wide!!!).
Just before half time Lions finally broke through with a well taken goal by Will.
Much of the same in the second half, with lions again scoring after a wet balled skidded off Lewis' boot.
2 nil and you would have though we would roll over considering we were playing against a team promoted to the upper tier of boys football. But we held our nerve and came very close to scoring as George rifled one which hit the bar.
Lewis - Excellent game in goal, saved a penalty, Man of the match
George - Solid at the back, dangerous going forward
Jordan - Cool and composed at the back
Jack - Safe at the back, dangerous runs forward
Dan - Captain and midfield powerhouse, good tackling and distribution
Dave - Classy passing throughout
Byron - Dangerous up front, solid at back towards end
Haydn - Held up ball well as lone striker, good tackles when in mattered
Jamie - Several goal line clearances, good runs on wing
Watch these nine players next year, the Harriers Hawks future is looking bright
