1. report from the Falcons' point of view:
The initial five minutes saw both sides struggling to settle. The Falcons opened their League score sheet with an own goal on four minutes as they tried to clear a Hawks attack from a free kick. Falcons equalized on eleven minutes with a well planted shot from Lewis E. and Lewis scored again in the seventeenth minute from the penalty spot after an unfortunate hand ball by Hawks defense. Both teams played well to half time with the Falcons seeming more settled and the Hawks allowing them time on the ball to play.
The second half saw the Falcons begin to pass the ball and find space to support each other. Lewis M. playing fullback cleared everything that got beyond the defensive line and Antony looked confident in goal demonstrating some strong handling and kicking. Harry made it four on thirty seven minutes, by then the result looked secure.
2. report from the Hawks' point of view:
After the elation of last saturday we were well and truly brought back down to earth by the Falcons. An own goal by the Falcons early in the game after a great through ball by David gave us hope, but their physical presence and control in midfield made for a very difficult game. A powerful shot saw them draw level, followed by a penalty which should never have been given, if Maradona can get away with it why can't we (only joking - the ref had to give it really). At half time and only one goal behind we still had glimmer of hope, however our hopes were soon dashed after 2 goals in the 2nd half. Jamie battled bravely in goal with shots hammering in from all angles, and without my man of the match Dan who gave 110% from start to finish it could have been more. At the end of the day at least it was 3 points for the Harriers. Good luck to the Falcons for the rest of the season and I am sure we will bounce back next week against Droitwich (they have only scored 12 goals and conceded 0 so it shouldn't be too hard!!)
