6 Oct 2007 - Match Report KHFitC U11s (S&DYFL)
KHFitC 1 v 0 Withymoor Colts - Report by Mitch Bastable
Starting line up - Harry, James P, Sam, Patrick, Ashley, Jordan, James S
Subs - Aaron, Ryan, Jamie
Fresh back from Turkey it was great to see all the boys raring to go again on a sunny October morning. With keeper Amedeo away on holiday there were a few changes to the starting line up with Harry reverting to goalie.
The first 10 minutes was evenly matched with Harriers keeping good shape, and trying to put a few passes together.
On the 11th minute Ashley scored a 20 yard goal which flew past the keeper.
James S fired over the bar 2 minutes later and Harriers looked dangerous.
James P looked back to his best in defence ably supported by Sam, and Patrick was involved in some great tackles in midfield.
Jordan worked tirelessly in right midfield and was heading plenty of balls.
I was frightened he would wreck his hairstyle, but nothing a trip down to Giannini can't solve!
On the 20th minute Jamie replaced Sam and Harriers finished the half strongly with Ashley hitting the bar, and James S striking wide. 1-0 at half time, the only worry being we had lost a one goal lead in the past two games.
The second half begun with Aaron replacing Jordan and reverting to his normal left side of midfield position. Once again the first 10 minutes was evenly matched before Ashley fired another shot. Jamie couldn't quite follow up on the rebound but it was close.
A great through ball from Aaron saw James S come close as well.
On the 16th minute Ryan replaced James S up front.
Withymoor picked up the pace during the last 10 minutes and it was a nervous affair.
Harry pulled off a couple of great saves, and it was a relief to have someone you could rely on if Amedeo is absent.
The last couple of minutes saw Sam replace the injured Aaron who had a much improved game, Jordan replaced Jamie and James S replaced Ashley.
Good teamwork prevented Withymoor from scoring and the final whistle blew.
First win of the season and up to 5th place in the league, the highest position ever recorded by the team.
Well done to all the boys and the manager.
