KHFitC 1 v 2 Bewdley Town - Report by Mitch Bastable
Starting line up: Amedeo, Patrick, James P, Aaron, Harry, Jordan, James S
Subs : Ryan, Sam
It was a cold October morning; the first sign that winter was on its way.
Bewdley Town were the visitors and with manager Dave missing, along with a couple of first team players and an 'under the weather' Amedeo the signs were ominous.
Bewdley pressured early on, and an injury to Harry after 4 minutes added to the missing list!
Ryan replaced Harry and James P moved into midfield. This switch turned the game around and Kidderminster started to get some passing together, whilst in defence Patrick was having his game of the season so far.
Aaron missed a good opportunity after 14 mins and 5 mins later James P came close with two successive efforts at goal. Sometimes these chances have to be taken or else you get punished......and that's exactly what happened.
A great volley from Bewdley striker gave Amedeo no chance and they took a perhaps undeserved lead.
2 more shots from James S and James P followed but their keeper was alert.
1-0 to the visitors at half time.
The second half was a very even affair with not many chances created by either team for the first 15 minutes. But then a very well worked goal put Bewdley 2-0 ahead, and we were hoping the boys weren't going to collapse.
They didn't and once again fought back, whereas last season we might not have had that fight.
James P scored his first goal of the season with a tight angled shot.
Harry replaced Aaron who had literally run himself out, and the Harriers pressed for the equaliser.
A shot agonisingly wide from James S followed.
Ryan replaced Patrick for the last couple minutes but Bewdley held on.
A good effort from the boys who will be looking to beat new boys Cookley next week.
