27 Oct 2007 - Match Report KHFitC Hawks U9s (S&DYFL)

Man of the Match - Jamie

KHFitC Hawks 6 v 1 Kinver Colts (League Cup) - Report by Matt Evans

Goals: Jack 3, Dan 2, Jamie 1

What a result, days don't get much better than this. By far and away our best team performance of the season. The game started well with pressure right from the off, the breakthrough game after a good attacking spell which resulted in a corner kick. David rifled in a corner which Dan bravely directed into the net with a superb header. Not many 8 year olds would have the bravery or composure to score a goal like that. Dan scored a second after another great piece of attacking play. Then disaster struck, Kinver rifled in a superb volley which made it 2-1 and it was finger nail biting time. However it didn't last long, a new look attacking midfield and striker group of Dan, Jamie, David and Jack destroyed the opposition. Jack who had marshalled so well at the back switched to the role of striker in the second half and completed a superb hatrick, one being from the penalty spot after he was himself brought down in the box. David was a constant danger whipping in some superb crosses, one of which man of the match Jamie directed into the back of the net via his knee, the crossbar and the keeper. Dan won everything in midfield and as well as his 2 goals he created numerous opportunities for the others. The move of the match started with Jack O in defence passing to Jamie who dribbled down the wing and then passed along the floor with great accuracy for Jack to run on and wrap us his hatrick.

Lewis again performed well in goal and had no chance with the rocket shot from Kinver, at 2-1 he palmed a shot into the post to avert disaster. Some long kicks helped the attackers push forward. Jordan and Haydn and then Jack O all did well in defence, clearing well and reducing the number of efforts Kinver had on goal.

Byron and Alex threatened well and came very close to scoring in the first half.

Things are definitely on the up, I can almost see our name engraved on the cup already.

Man of the match was Jamie for some superb work and great positional play in the first half. Very tough decision today as with Jack, Dan and David coming very close to snatching the MoM trophy.

Well done boys, great team performance - Let’s have the same again next week.
