27 Oct 2007 - Match Report KHFitC U11s (S&DYFL)
Cookley Boys 1 v 3 KHFitC – Report by Mitch Bastable
Starting line up: Amedeo, Patrick, Ryan, James P, Aaron, Harry, Sam. Subs: Jordan, James S
A must win game loomed for the Harriers, and with Dave the manager returning from hols we thought we were in with a good chance. Coach Kev recommended 2 of the top players were dropped to the bench for not paying attention in training and this gave a couple of different players their chance to make their mark. It is good to have friendly competition for the places, and reminds the boys they must earn their place in the team.
Early pressure from the Harriers resulted in Cookley looking a bit confused as to which positions they were playing. It reminded us parents of what we were like 1 year ago.
Aaron hit the bar after 7 minutes and looked dangerous all game with his attacking midfield role. Harry struck a shot on the 8th minute which deflected off the defender into his own net, and 2 minutes later Sam swung a cross in which the defender put into his own net again. It seemed a bit cruel on the home team, but I think we deserved some luck after recent close performances. Harry and Sam were both happy to claim the goals on the match report!
On the stroke of half time Aaron hit a 30 yard shot, but didn't quite have enough power to pass the keeper.
The second half Harriers pressured even more, but a strike out of nowhere from Cookley forced a super save from the ever reliable Amedeo. Another great solo run from Aaron past 2 players resulted in a shot that was not quite powerful enough again. James S replaced Harry after 8 mins and Jordan for James P after 15. It is difficult to come on as a sub and get into the game and both lads not being used to that position struggled to find their usual form. Harry replaced Sam who had run himself out with a great game....well done Sam.
Harry scored with his first touch with a good high shot, and 3-0 started to look comfortable. James P replaced Aaron after 20 minutes. A goal from Cookley followed and a couple minutes pressure from the home team got our hearts fluttering slightly. However the Harriers finished the last 2 minutes strongly and came out deserved winners.Special mention to Ryan and Patrick for some great defensive work throughout the game.
A good solid performance from all the boys. Well done and keep up the good work.
