Man of the Match - Jack

KHFitC Hawks 1 v 0 Nunnery Wood Hawks - Report by Matt Evans

Another win, the unbeaten run is now a massive 2 games and if performances carry on like this we may not lose a game for the next couple of years. We were solid through out and unlucky not to burst the back of the net on many occasions.

A tight first half in which we threatened on numerous occasions ended nervously at 0-0.

But 3 minutes into the second half Jack burst through and rifled one into the back of the net with a low, powerful drive.

5 minutes or so later Jack was hauled down in the box and the referee opted to give a penalty, up stepped David, who Jack insisted should take it. Finding the penalty spot was the hardest part as it appeared to be about 12 inches below the rest of the pitch. David blasted the penalty high and with power but the keeper got a strong hand to it. The ball shot down and hit the cliff face that is the goal line and bounced back to safety. On a level pitch it would have been 2 nil and game over.

We held our shape but a nervous last 10 minutes ensued. Then disaster a penalty was awarded with 2 minutes to go. Lewis stood on the goal line with giant like domination and just as I had bitten the last bit of nail of my fingers the striker blasted wide.

Result 1-0 to the Harriers

Man-of the-match to day was Jack who capped off a battling performance with the winning goal.

Special mention also needs to go to Gareth who had an impressive debut, Jordan who is settling into his role as defender, David who caused problems all game and our captain, Dan, for his outstanding dominance in the centre of the park.

Not many teams can boast an unbeaten run of 2 games, well done lads, big cup game next week.
