6 Mar 2010 - Match Report - KHFitC U10 Kestrels (S&DYFL)

Kidderminster Lions Cubs 1 v 2 KHFitC Kestrels - report by Adam Davies

Man of the Match: Harrison

Starting line-up: George, Harrison, Jordan, Liam, Felix, Mitch, Eddie. Sub: Byron

Round 2 for the top of the table clash and after losing 2-1 at home we were itching to set the record straight. We started a bit sleepy and Kiddy Lions had a few chances, one of which hit the bar twice. We were very lucky not to be losing after the first 5 or 10 minutes. We started waking up and getting back into the game after and created a couple of chances ourselves. One of the shots, by Liam, came back off the post. Then we were awarded a free kick which Harrison took, it had a deflection and just rolled past the post. Eddie then had a chance which hit the side netting. George was then tested by Kiddy Lions and pulled off a brilliant top corner save. Harrison and Jordan were strong at the back and limited the amount of times George was tested. Overall the first half was even with both teams creating lots of chances but failing to finish them.

Half time 0-0

The second half started and it finished like the first half with end to end chances for both teams. But eventually - the breakthrough. A floated corner by Liam gave MITCH the chance to jump above everyone and head the ball in the net, a beauty and a 1-0 lead. Kiddy Lions were having none of it though and created many more chances to equalise. Eventually they did, a bit of a scramble in the box and they tapped the ball in an empty net. But we came back and scored the final goal of the game. The ref awarded us a free kick on the edge of the box after a foul on Mitch; HARRISON stepped up and smashed the ball past everyone into the net. Everyone went ecstatic and we got what we deserved. Kiddy Lions put a lot of pressure on us in the last 5 minutes but we hung on for the win and moved 3 points closer to them in the league. This now gives us a great chance to win the league, a very well done to all the lads!!

Full time 1-2
