6 Mar 2010 - Match Report - KHFitC U11 Hawks (S&DYFL)
KHFitC Hawks 2 v 1 Warndon Falcons - report by Matt Evans
Man of the Match: lewis
Starting line-up: Lewis, George, Haydn, Dave, Jack, Alex, George W Subs: Dave, Jordan
Last weeks scoreline had seen us close to just one goal behind Ferndale, so today was a chance to make further headway.
Some say football is a game of two halves; they are usually the same amount of time. Not today!!!
Today was a game of two halves, the first just 5 minutes long. Tom scored his first after just 11 seconds, some great attacking play followed over the next few minutes and he added a second just 5 minutes in. I had the pen and paper ready, expecting to lose count of the scorers. This was the Hawks back to their best.
Unfortunately that was it, the second half of the game; an agonising 45 minutes saw us attempt to hit the self-destruct button. Gone was the team-play, chances wasted with poor decision making. Warndon scored on 16 minutes and could easily have snatched a point.
Not a great deal more to say about today’s game, we could and should have had the game wrapped up and the goal difference looking a lot healthier. But it wasn't to be, it could have been a whole lot worse, Warndon broke through in the final minute only to be denied by man of the match Lewis who pulling off a stunning save.
On a positive note, we won the game; the chance to match Arsenal's unbeaten season is still on. The only team that can stop us winning the league is ourselves. We will pull together and come back stronger next week, we will learn from this and we will continue to pursue our dream of winning the league.
16 games, won 14, drawn 2, lost 0. Incredible season so far
