18 Apr 2008 - KHFitC Under 12s (MJPFL team) play the Aston Villa Academy Team

KHFitC Under 12's (MJPFL team) were invited to play against Aston Villa Academy Team.

It was noted from the Villa that we had gone unbeaten all season and it would be a chance for them to see the level of the MJPFL. It would also give us the opportunity for our team to experience football at the highest level.

We started the brighter and for the first 20 minutes played good football and took the lead. Aston Villa as we expected kept the ball with good passing and equalised from a corner. They then took the lead and at half time we were 2 - 1 down.

The second half saw us under pressure as they went to kill the game off. However we stood our ground and denied them the third goal. As the half went on we started to get the upper hand and equalised with a 25 yard free kick. With minutes to go we had a couple of half chances to take the lead, but with only 60 seconds left Villa broke through to win the game 3 - 2. It was a great performance from our team and the way their players celebrated the winning goal showed that we had given them a hard fought match.

Shaun Kimberly (Head of Youth Development) congratulated us on the game and spent an hour showing us all around the complex. Not for the first time this season we were complemented on how we represent the Club and invited back pre season. They are also coming to watch us in the final at Bristol.

In all it was a great night for the team, and the parents.
